Forums-
World-wide by region:

SE Asia and Australia

thailandhoyaclub.com- This website and forum is moderated by Surisa Somadee. Posts are in Thai, with occasional phrases in English. Pictures of many new or unidentified species are posted on this forum, along with many beautiful photos of more common species. Membership is free. For non Thai speakers who wish to browse through the posts- from the Home Page click on "Webboard", then click on "Thai Hoya Club". Species names are in standard Latin, so are easy to spot, and the photos speak for themselves.

Europe

hoyaliv.se- This is a Swedish-language forum, founded in 2006.

"A very active forum with a lot of nice people with great hoya-knowledge, but there is also room for beginners. We welcome everybody to our forum. There are a lot of pictures and the forum is very user friendly. The forum has existed since December 2006. We talk about hoyas but also our everyday life and other interests."

www.hoyas.ro- This is a Romanian forum which was founded in 2007. There is a special section for discussions in English, and forum members are very hospitable to English-speaking visitors.

hoyasnacket- This is a Swedish forum which was founded in 2001. In Swedish only.

infojardin.com- "This friendly forum is similar to the US forum Dave's Garden, but is free. Based in Spain for Castilian speaking members from all over the world (Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Sweden, Chile, etc), there are sections for many plants. Among them, there is what is called a sub-forum for Hoya in which members share their experiences, while collecting information, since there is nothing or very little published in Spanish. This makes it very hard for people that only speak that language. There is a "post it" section in which a compendium of Hoya and basic care is being created by translating information and including pictures with the authorization of the owners. Many English-only sources have been very helpful by allowing us to use information and pictures from their web sites. We always request permission and credit the source."

monforum.fr- This French language forum is very active, reflecting the growing popularity of Hoya in France. This forum is linked to a pool of photos on Flickr, which contains a vast number of Hoya and Dischidia photos.

USA

Dave's Garden Hoya forum- A friendly forum for collectors of all levels. Features are user-friendly, layout is clean and logical. The "Hoyas in Bloom" by month threads are worth the price of admission alone. There are yearly round-robins or swaps. This is a pay site, dues are $25.00 USD yearly, which allows access to approximately 200 forums on general and specific gardening topics. Judging by the number of views on some threads, this seems to be the most active US Hoya forum. Active moderators are not present, although the administrative staff is quite responsive.

Epiforums Hoya & Dischida forums- These forums are attached to a site primarily devoted to epiphytic cactus collectors, but the Hoya and Dischidia forums are lively and have a fair number of devotees. Epiforums seems to have the only dedicated Dischidia forum on the web. This website is quite user-friendly and easy to navigate. All forums are moderated with a light but considered hand. Membership is free.

Hoyas 'R' Us- This forum is run by Christine Burton, the long-time editor of The Hoyan, the world's first and longest running Hoya publication. Discussion often centers on intricate taxonomic issues, and the tone can become quite heated at times.

Gardenweb Hoya forum- This is another friendly and very active forum for collectors of all levels. Discussions often focus on cultivation techniques and display methods. This site makes it particularly easy to attach multiple photographs of fair size to one's posts. The site is fairly user-friendly. Active moderators are not present. Membership is free.

The Stemma Forum- This is the official forum of Stemma magazine, at Yahoo groups. Members receive notifications of the availability of new issues of Stemma, and discussion often centers on taxonomy issues and new species.
