Eriostemma is a genus closely related to Hoya. Eriostemma was previously included within the genus Hoya as a section, but was separated from Hoya by Dale Kloppenburg and Edward Gilding in Fraterna in 2001. The validity of this genus has been questioned over the years, but a closer look (see Stemma V.3, #2) has shown that the publication does seem to be technically valid.
The species names included in genus Eriostemma have also been widely debated. An overview of this genus is needed to clarify the standing of these names. For now, the most widely accepted species names are included here, although many of these are in need of republishing.
